Gong’s Vibrations and Reverberations. Gong: Tablero de arte y literatura (1930-1931). Readings on a Valparaiso’s Avant-Garde Event

Abstract

The main objective of this article is to analyze the avant-garde magazine Gong: tablero de arte y literatura (1929-1931), directed by Oreste Plath. This publication will be contextualized within the framework of the late Avant-Garde in Valparaíso, considering the articulation of correspondence networks that are exhibited in it with similar journals among Latin America (particularly with Peruvian journals).  Thus, taking into account some of Gong's collaborations, among them those of Peruvian poet César Vallejo. Secondly, the visual composition of Gong, will be addressed examining the techniques that are used for the design of its pages, particularly the graphic composition (Viu, Tarcus) of the name Gong throughout its issues.
