Abstract

The purpose of this article is to show the current state of the traditional debate on usury within the Catholic Church. It is argued that this debate has been forgotten and that there is confusion within the Church about the very meaning of the term. It is argued that in order to have a finished understanding of the matter, give coherence to its doctrine and be able to contribute to the development of this debate at the secular level, the Church must recover the legal concern for the matter.
