Handling the Apparent in a Predesigned World: Interview with Domingo Hernández Sánchez
Main Article Content
Abstract
Domingo Hernández Sánchez is Professor of Aesthetics and Theory of the Arts at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Salamanca, where he gives lectures in Art Theory, Aesthetics and Conceptual Art Philosophy, among others. He is the author of La ironía estética: estética romántica y arte moderno and La comedia de lo sublime. In this interview, the former director of the PhD in Philosophy at the University of Salamanca points out that designers would enrich their work with a theoretical basis that allows them to understand what the new sensibilities are and how the way that objects appear is currently handled. In this sense, aesthetics can contribute to locating a series of current problems, such as modes of presentation based on emotionality and the exacerbated presence of stories. Finally, Hernández Sánchez points out that aesthetics can shed light on the role of the designer in a world in which many aspects are already prefigured or predesigned.
