Redes sociales de adolescentes: un estudio descriptivo-comparativo
Abstract
The article describes and compares adolescent social networks of two socioeconomic status. The sample consisted of 99 ninth and tenth graders of two schools of low socioeconomic status and two schools of high socioeconomic status from Santiago. The Mannheim lnventory of Social Support, adapted to be used with adolescents (Veiel,1990), was used. lmportant differences were found in the social network characteristics of adolescents
of high and low socioeconomic status. Social networks of adolescents of low socioeconomic status were smaller in size, they had less frequent contact with their social network members and had less social support providers.
